"Livelihood issues", including an improved social security system and the provision of affordable housing, remain the top concerns of Chinese people, according to online polls conducted ahead of the country's annual parliamentary and political advisory sessions.

根據(jù)兩會(huì)前的網(wǎng)絡(luò)調(diào)查，“民生問(wèn)題”成為我國(guó)民眾關(guān)注的焦點(diǎn)，比如改善社保體制、保障房供應(yīng)等等。

文中的livelihood issues指的就是“民生問(wèn)題”，也稱(chēng)為bread-and-butter issues或者pocketbook issues，livelihood意思是“生計(jì)、謀生”。簡(jiǎn)單的說(shuō)，livelihood issues就是與百姓生活密切相關(guān)的問(wèn)題，最主要表現(xiàn)在吃穿住行、養(yǎng)老就醫(yī)子女教育等日常生活的方方面面。

在本次調(diào)查中，accelerate the supply of affordable homes（加快保障房建設(shè)）和rein in rising commodity prices（穩(wěn)定物價(jià)）成為得票最多的兩個(gè)問(wèn)題。此外，social security system（社會(huì)保障制度）、judicial justice（司法公正）、food safety（食品安全）等問(wèn)題也備受關(guān)注。
